Sanofi-aventis gets LEED certification for Cambridge location
Sanofi-aventis received LEED certification for its 75,000-square-foot research and development facility.
The U.S. Green Building Council awards Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) to properties that meet certain criteria.
The facility is located at 270 Albany St. in Cambridge, Mass., and was completed in June of last year. Linbeck Construction Corp. was the construction manager - A.J.B. Consultants, Inc. (Project Manager) - for the facility designed by KlingStubbins. It features state-of-the-art laboratories, cold rooms, conference space, meeting areas and administrative offices on three floors. Linbeck helped Sanofi-aventis plans the facility which is now being reviewed by the USGBC for a higher level of certification.
"Becoming LEED certified highlights the Sanofi-aventis Cambridge Research Center's commitment to reducing waste and pollution, reducing energy consumption, and reducing the impact we have on the environment," said Jason Slusher, director of operations, U.S. Research & Development, in a statement.
Approximately 75 people work in the Cambridge facility. Sanofi-aventis is a global pharmaceutical company that is developing treatments for cardiovascular disease, thrombosis, cancer, diabetes, central nervous system disorders, internal medicine and vaccines.
